Hello everyone,

For my In-Depth project, I will be learning how to skateboard, and by the end of the year, my goal is to be able to do an ollie, an aerial, and a kickflip. For this in-depth, I wanted to try something I’ve never done before, and something I would have fun doing for 5 months. In my ICT 9 class, we were creating a skateboarding movie, and I thought it would be really cool if I could do a couple of those tricks. Skateboarding could also be useful to gain a sense of balance, which can be applied to other sports I play. I would like to start my training very soon, because there is a skate park, in walking (or skateboarding) distance from my house. Once I get going, I plan to get with my mentor every two weeks, but still practice on own on a daily basis. My main issue my lack of a mentor. I haven’t been able to find a mentor to teach me, and I really want to try skateboarding. Other obstacles that may present them selves are injuries, but I’ll make sure I have the correct gear to protect me. I already know where I can get a good deal for a skateboard, and I am really looking forward to trying this out, and learning my first trick. I’ve never skateboarded in my life before, so this will be a completely new experience for me, and I hope to make the most out of it. If anyone knows of a mentor, who could teach me to skateboard, that would be great.

Have a nice day,

Eric Jang
